The company was founded in  1991 as Peutronics Financial Accountant between father and son. The company was renamed Tally Solutions in 1999. The first product was MS-Dos Version a simple accounting software.

As of 2016, the company had 1 million customers.

In 2016, Tally Solutions was shortlisted as a GST Suvidha Provider to provide an interface between the GST server and taxpayers.

In 2017, updated GST compliance software was introduced.

In 2020, TallyPrime was updated to offer e-invoicing solutions to generate e-invoices.
